Lost in Love by Michelle Reid (1994)

From the Back Cover:
Someplace between heaven and hell...

Four years ago, Guy Frabosa had hurt Marnie so deeply that she vowed never to set eyes on him again and had divorced him in a blaze of pain and anger. He fought her, but she'd had a trump card and had been desperate enough to use it.

Now Guy held all the cards--Marnie needed his financial help and had little choice but to play by her ex-husband's rules. He demanded her body and soul, but the thought of returning to his side as his wife filled her with a raging hatred---made all the more consuming by her utterly wanton desire for his lovemaking.

My Review:
Ooooh I love this book!! Marnie's brother is in trouble again so she asks her ex-husband Guy Frabosa, an ex-Formula 1 driver for help, in return he asks that she comes back to him though she caught him cheating on her with another woman. Despite this he wouldn't let her go. The last scene in the book when Marnie thinks Guy has died in an explosive car and she runs to him is amazing, especially when she finds him safe and sound.

Fantasy by Emma Darcy (November 1, 1985)

From the Back Cover:
Had she dreamed him up -- this man, this fantasy?

Her fiance's betrayal and her frenzied flight to a secluded beach near Sydney had been for Eve a nightmare - until the moment a stranger held her in his arms and revealed a lotus land where love was possible...

For a while Even gave herself up to the joy of loving and being loved for herself and not as the money-making image her fiance had devised with his camera.

She wanted the fantasy to go on forever. Surely to stay would be like trying to prolong a dream...

My Review:
Eve is a beautiful girl who is weak under her mother's pressure and her boyfriend's demands. One night she runs away to a stranded beach and in the cold sea she has a cramp, then a handsome stranger comes and saves her. They spend a magical weekend together without knowing each other.

When Eve returns to reality, she finds herself facing her beach guy in a large company only to discover he is not a beach guy at all, but a successful company owner who has plans to make her a model to a perfume called Fantasy and the advertisement is passed on their time together in the beach collecting shells.

Elusive Paradise by Lilian Peake (December 1, 1986)

From the Back Cover:
Lynsey Thorpe issued the challenge lightly.

It was a fun thing, meant to brighten up a friend's post-wedding party. "Who'll be prince to my Cinderella?" she asked.

The man who answered was in earnest--a handsome stranger who wove a spell about her that she found irresistible. He swept Lynsey off her feet into an unknown world of passion and excitement.

Too late Lynsey discovered who he really was. Madoc Morgan, brother of her friend. The man who'd just taken over the company that Lynsey worked for, a man whose dealings with staff were known to be totally ruthless!

My Review:
This is a very cute book, filled with crazy passion between two strangers! They met in a party thrown by her company, later she finds herself with an amazing man, they make love but then reality comes and she discovers he's her boss! The huge C.E.O of the company.

They marry after 3 days but don't truly act married until the end. The characters names are different in my edition, They are Hazel and Garret.

Harlequin' Impetuous Bride by Caroline Anderson (2001)

From the Back Cover:
The Impetuous Bride by Caroline Anderson

It should have been the happiest day of her life, but as Lydia slipped into her wedding gown, she knew she had to stop the wedding. Jake's whirlwind proposal had been thrilling, but all she wanted was to hear him say he loved her!

A year later, Lydia finds herself at the altar with Jake again -- this time as a bridesmaid instead of a bride! Jake is the best man -- and he's still the only man for Lydia. But can he finally convince his impetuous bride to say "I do"?

My Review:
It's a love story about second chances and misunderstandings that lead to heartache, but it all comes beautifully at the end.

I love this book a lot, I love the characters, the setting, even the wild berries! It's a lovely love story!

Harlequin' Beyond Her Control by Jessica Steele (June 1, 1987)

From the Back Cover:
It was time to live for herself

Brooke had held the family together ever since her mother's death, putting off her own dreams for the sake of her father, younger brother and sister.

So when her sister, staying at a chateau in France to upgrade her French before university, developed a crush on the chateau's owner and decided to stay, it was only natural that Brooke should rush to the rescue.

And it was also only natural that Brooke, naive and inexperienced with men, after meeting the handsome worldly Jourdain Marchais, should fall in love with him herself!

My Review:
OMG!! I finally found this book!!! I read it when I was about 14 but in an Arabic translation edition, so the titles and the names were all different! I looked for it everywhere!! I LOVE this story!!

It tells a story about Colleen, who sacrificed her life and future to take care about her twin brother and sister and her widower father.

Her sister Marsha goes to France to spend her holiday and falls in love with an older French man, Colleen goes nuts because her sister write to her and tells her she isn't coming back or going to college.

So she heads to France to get her spoiled baby sister back home, and ends up falling in love with Roger Beauchesne herself.

Harlequin' The Black Eagle by Anne Hampson (1975)

From the Back Cover:
Roxanne had always been rather used to doing as she was told without question -- which was presumably why, when the mysterious Mexican Don Juan Armando Ramires, known as 'the Black Eagle', swept into her life, married her, and carried her off to his hacienda, Roxanne found herself meekly submitting to it all.

And so she embarked on this curious marriage -- for certainly it was no ordinary marriage. The hacienda, she was told, was haunted still by the spirit of Marta, the girl Juan had worshiped, and always would worship. Indeed, it was only because of her striking resemblance to Marta that Juan had married her.

In time, Roxanne's hatred of her husband turned to love -- but what chance had she of reaching his heart?

My Review:
It's a very strange and strong love story that happens between Juan who lost the love of his life but fond it in Roxanne who looks exactly like her. Roxanne is determined to run away from him even if she is highly attracted to him, in the end of course, love wins!

Harlequin' Dishonourable Proposal by Jacqueline Baird (April 1, 1993)

From the Back Cover:
Pleasure before business

No teenage crush, Katy's love for Jake Granton was as real as the searing heartbreak of his betrayal. After four years of modeling--and all the male attention a woman could possibly want--she'd actually convinced herself she way over him.

But when she left the limelight and joined the family business, Jake was waiting for her, his possessive kiss reducing her to a mass of aching desire. His reputation as a businessman was ruthless, but his proposition was all-out blackmail: become his mistress or her company would suffer the consequences.

Katy was 14 when her father’s partner came to her boarding school to tell her she lost her mother. Jake was shocked by the strong emotions he felt for a 14 year old girl. He decided to stay away but keep in touch, sending her postcards from everywhere he goes until she’s 18 at least.

Katy goes back home totally infatuated with Jake to find that her father remarried a horrible woman who had he eyes on Jake.

In her 18 birthday Jake comes and asks Katy’s father for her hand in marriage, but before he could go to ask Katy herself, her new stepmother makes a show of throwing herself at him, and that’s what Katy sees and hears her stepmother says that they'd slept together before and when Jake marries Katy, they'll have the perfect cover.

She runs to Paris to her friend’s house, who has a famous photographer uncle, who changes Katy’s name to Lina and makes her a famous model. Without telling Jake the real reasons why she left, she sends him a letter saying she'd met someone else.

Four years later and a now successful model, Katy is ready to hang it all up and go back to her first love as a china designer in her father's company. She meets Jake again and due to her father's bad investments and messy divorce settlement, the company is about to fold. Jake blackmails her into his bed by promising to help the company and Katy agrees.

Even though it becomes obvious to the reader that Jake's actions are all to do things that he thinks Katy wants, to Katy it's a mystery why Jake is doing things that he wouldn't normally do and she thinks instead that he's trying to publicly humiliate her.

After a disastrous trip to Italy they come back to England, Jake takes Katy after their big fight and confessions to her last surprise, he home with her mother. He bought her childhood house with an old painting of her 14 years old self to tell her that all he did was to get her back, that he doesn't want her as a mistress, that he only wants her for himself as a wife.

Katy believes Jake and regrets leaving him 4 years ago, for something she only saw without seeing the end. But at least all the secrets are out and they live happily ever after.

My Review:
This book is one of my favorites love stories of all time!! I wish they would make a movie out of it, it is really good, it is about a man who fell in love with a young girl in her teens and waited for her to grow older so he can tell her how he feels and marry her, but the night he intended to propose she witness something that will change her plans and feelings and their lives as well, and she leaves him to model, while he tried so hard to know what went wrong, but then things go badly and he proposed a dishonourable plan to save her father's work and his heart!!

Harlequin' Capricorn Man by Jacqueline Gilbert (June 1, 1985)

From the back of the book:

'She promised to be on her best behavior. Nicola couldn't resist the richness of the situation.

Michael, her childhood adversary, needed a legal secretary in Surrey, and his younger brother and sister were too much of a handful-even for him.

Michael had always had too many responsibilities thrust upon him too soon-and Nicola had been one of them. As a child, she'd given him the devil's own job keeping her safe when she tagged along after him and his cousin Kit.

As far as Michael was concerned, Nicola gravitated toward danger-always had and always would-even when it came to love.'

My Review:
I LOVE this book a lot!! Read it several times!! But the names of the characters in my edition were different according to translation... this must be one of my favorite books of all time! To me there names are Macy and Lance, and there cousin Leo!

There are so many parts I absolutely love! Like when Macy was arranging the Christmas tree decoration and fell from the stairs into Lance's arms. When she helped her cousin save the drowning dog. When she and the butler were talking about Lance. When Lance and Macy fight and then make up out breakfast. When he follows her to the beach and declare his love. When they all go to their aunts anniversary party and Lance and Macy dance!!

Nicola Redford had been raised with Kip, Noel and and Michael Dalmain, her mother Adele was a singer, but she felt Nicola would be better off being raised with her cousins than being drug from one concert to another.

So the Delmains took her in, since Adele's youngest sister married widower John Dalmain who already had Michael by his first wife. Michael became the leader of the gang of Kip, Noel, and Nicola. They were always into something and Michael had to be extra careful to keep Nicola, the only girl in the gang from getting hurt.

Years later when Nicola was an adult she came back to help Micheal with his 14 yr-old sister Cassandra. Noel now 17, Kip now 32 and Cassandra were Nicola's true cousins, but all of the cousins looked at Michael now 33 as the leader of the cousins.

Nicola secretly had a crush on Michael, when she was a child so all the wild things she did as a child were meant to impress Michael. And although it did, it also kept Michael on his toes because he has always been in love with her. But she knew she loved him truly when she was looking at him in the Christmas party she arranged at his house.

Now that they are in the same house, Michael finds he is very attracted to his almost cousin, and she seems to be drawn to Kip. Nicola notices that her hero Max in her books looks exactly like Michael, that gets her thinking about her feelings for him.

Then Kip gets engaged, and Michael wants to console Nicola, but he finds Kip at her apartment kissing her after he gave Hester her engagement ring.

That causes a fight between Kip and Michael, but Michael also rips into Nicola only to end up in bed having sex with her.

She then flees to her mother and step-father and spends sometime with them, but Michael follows, while they are walking at the beach all their love and memories start coming out and they confess their love for each other.

My Shelfari Review:

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!! I had it for a while, but I was reading so many books at the same time to try and read it, suddenly while arranging some books, I see it again and I think: "I need to read something funny and cute." This was even more!

The sitting is enough to enter my heart "Paris" my dream city! The City of art, food, passion and fashion!

Anna Oliphant "Banana Elephant" was a great character but Etienne St. Clair is my new obsession! He is so HOT!

The whole description of their growing feelings and tension, the other characters [are simply amazing and easy to relate to and love], the yummy food, the movies, the cool Boarding school and even a clubbing scene and a cat fight is all in there to make this great book, that will make you warm and happy like a mug of rich hot chocolate and laugh.

I'm so in LOVE with this author, I need to get her next book "Lola and the Boy Next Door" soon!

I think Kate and her revenants from Die for Me by Amy Plum should meet with Anna and Etienne, I got to say Etienne wins every time!

Places in the book

Point zéro des routes de France

Notre Dame de Paris [Our Lady of Paris]

the Galerie des Chimères
James Douglas "Jim" Morrison
Victor Noir
A life-sized bronze statue was sculpted by Jules Dalou to mark his grave, portrayed in a realistic style as though he had just fallen on the street, dropping his hat which is depicted beside him. The sculpture has a very noticeable protuberance in Noir's trousers. This has made it one of the most popular memorials for women to visit in the famous cemetery. Myth says that placing a flower in the upturned top hat after kissing the statue on the lips and rubbing its genital area will enhance fertility, bring a blissful sex life, or, in some versions, a husband within the year. As a result of the legend, those particular components of the oxidized bronze statue are rather well-worn.

In 2004 a fence was erected around the statue of Noir, to deter superstitious people from touching the statue. However, due to a fake protest of the "female population of Paris" led by French TV anchor Péri Cochin, it was torn down again.

Panthéon, Paris
The Crypt

This paragraph reminds me so much of my father:
"I don't have spending money like the rest of our classmates. It's pretty clear when I order the cheapest thing on the menu every time we eat out. Dad may have wanted to give me a fancy education, but he isn't concerned about my daily expenses. I've asked him twice for a raise in my weekly allowance, but he's refused, saying I need to learn to live within my means.

Which is difficult when he doesn't give me enough means to begin with."
Believe me this almost made me cry. Another thing like Anna is my love to cinema.

"Cinema. Has there ever been a more beautiful word?"
I LOVED when Etienne said: "There's no reason to suffer this flight alone when we can suffer it together."
