Fallen Series by Lauren Kate

Book DescriptionDecember 8, 2009

Product Description - USA Edition

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

Product Description - UK Edition

Fallen is the first in Lauren Kate’s series of dark, romantic novels featuring 17 year old Lucinda and Daniel, her doomed angel lover.

What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours?

17-year-old Lucinda falls in love with a gorgeous, intelligent boy, Daniel, at her new school, the grim, foreboding Sword & Cross . . . only to find out that Daniel is a fallen angel, and that they have spent lifetimes finding and losing one another as good & evil forces plot to keep them apart.

Get ready to fall...

My Review:

I haven't heard about this book before, I saw the cover and decided to give it a go. and I am reading it right now, and I am really liking the story, I want to know what happened and what is happening... what is the story with Daniel, Cam and Luce?
OMG!!!!!!!! I totally loved the book!!! And I really was shocked at the end! I really like Cam even if he is evil!
Lucinda 'Luce' Price is a seventeen year old girl from Georgia. She previously attended a private school in Connecticut before the court ordered her to be relocated to a boarding school.
She started seeing 'Shadows' at a young age. As a child, she tells her parents about her increasing "ability", troubling them, taking her to many psychiatrists and psychologists who put her on anti-psychotics.
Years later, when she is off the pills and is attempting to embark on having a 'normal' life, she is invited to a beach party where her boyfriend was caught by fire while she kisses him. The unnamed boy dies, causing Luce to be transferred into a reform school called "Sword and Cross" which contains some very strange students, many of which are hostile and closed.
When she first enters Sword & Cross, she realizes how much her life will have changed. There are cameras watching her every move and there is a strict rule regarding cell phones.
On her first day, she meets Arriane Alter, an excitable and enigmatic girl who immediately takes a liking to Luce. She shows her fondness by asking Luce to cut her hair just like Luce's, much to Luce's dismay for she does not want to mess her hair up. Also on her first day at Sword & Cross, Luce finds herself meeting the handsome Cam Briel and being drawn to the fascinating Daniel Grigori, whom she believes that she recognizes from somewhere.
Throughout her short time at Sword & Cross, Luce must choose between finding out the truth that Daniel, Cam, Arriane and a whole bunch of others are hiding, or fighting for the love that she's felt ever since she saw Daniel.

From the Fallen Cover:

I don't think she's that pretty but the photographer and graphic designer are amazing!!

Hell on earth.

That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.

It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.

What if his version of events isn’t the way things happened? What if that means that she’s really meant to be with someone else?

My Review:

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how the book ended!!!!

I NEED to read Passion NOW!!!
The book was simply amazing! I laughed hard through the Thanksgiving dinner! It was unbelievable to have all these people and fallen angels in the same room!

*SPOILERS*In Las Vegas I was so happy to see Arriane enter the story BUT then all of the first book characters came and it was great. Miles, Can and Daniel are very hot! I need to know where Luce went and if Daniel could find her and bring her home.

After the dramatic events which ended Fallen and during the truce between Cam and Daniel, Luce is hidden in Shoreline (on the coast of California), a prestigious private school where both human and Nephilim (creatures born from a cross between angels and humans) attend. There, away from murderous enemies, Luce begins to find out more about her past lives with the help of two Nephilim friends: Shelby, Luce's cantankerous roommate, and Miles, whose affection for Luce causes her to doubt her relationship with Daniel. There are still many things for Luce to discover; things that Daniel, for her own good, has decided to hide from her, and the shadows that have haunted her for lifetimes that may now finally have a positive purpose for her. Daniel will do everything to protect her, pushing her to remain confined at Shoreline to keep Luce safe. For some of these reasons, Luce and Daniel fight multiple times, increasing her doubts about their relationship. Discovering some of her past lives, Luce realizes how their love, yet so passionate, hurt the thousands of previous families she once lived with. During her time in Shoreline, Luce's clear division between angels and demons becomes blurry, especially when she discovers that Daniel and Cam are fighting side by side. She also finds out that not only the Elders want her, the Outcasts, beings who are neither angels nor demons, will continuously attempt to abduct her. To Luce's surprise, Cameron does not kill her, but protects her from the Outcasts. At the end of the book, Luce, stressed from the violence, decides to find out more about her past lives by stepping through an Announcer - a portal to the past. Daniel decides to follow her, promising to rescue her.

Product Description - USA Edition

Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.
Sweeping across centuries, Passion is the third novel in the unforgettably epic Fallen series.

Product Description - UK Edition

The third book in the incredible FALLEN series.

Before Luce and Daniel met at Sword & Cross, before they fought the Immortals, they had already lived many lives. And so Luce, desperate to unlock the curse that condemns their love, must revisit her past incarnations in order to understand her fate. Each century, each life, holds a different clue.

But Daniel is chasing her throughout the centuries before she has a chance to rewrite history.

How many deaths can one true love endure?

And can Luce and Daniel unlock their past in order to change their future?

My Review:

I reached chapter 6 in 2 hours or so, but I'm not sure I like how the story is turning, the whole "Bill" the gargoyle (I don't like Bill) and Luce's journey seems like Alice in Wonderland but more like "Luce Down Memory Lane", instead of The Caterpillar we get The Gargoyle!! Let's see what will happen next before I judge the book! I hope it gets better!

I reached chapter 10 now, half of the book, but I'm not liking this book like the first two parts. Luce is only dying and dying... We already know that Daniel loves her. But till now the book hasn't answered any important or insignificant questions for me. I hate books like that: A journey with no destination!

It was nice to see that Daniel and Cam are actually brothers. I like Cam a lot, even if he's evil.

I knew there was something wrong with Bill, but as always Luce is so stupid to notice anything important but Daniel.

The author made the last chapter in heaven, and made God speak about fallen angels, she didn't say the word "God" but called Him the Throne. I respected her imagination in imagining heaven and the creation day. But she can't say God made a mistake and made angels fall. Even Adam and Eve had a choice but they decided to disobey God and pick the forbidden fruit. God never makes mistakes, everything that happen happens at His well. Heaven and Hell and everything ever created from Humans, angels and demons are all under His well. It's silly to see her create a whole history that is not even accurate or believable.

The author just destroyed the whole series for me! I hope she redeems herself in the last installment!

Luce and Daniel had already lived many, many lives. Luce wants to get rid of the curse and Daniel chases her through history. Little does Daniel know, the future could change differently not because of Luce herself, but because of a certain guy who will try helping Luce travel in her different past lives. Daniel and his other fallen angel friends and nephilim will try to catch up to her and bring her back to the present. As Luce travels through time, she will realize not only how much Daniel loves her, and how much she misses to be back in his arms, but that she will also be in danger with the one who is trying to help her.

This book will reveal the secrets and risks that the main characters had and will have in the future. Will they succeed in their mission?

Rapture (June 13, 2012)

isn't the book cover just WOW!!! And it's the first white one in the series! I think that means "happy ending!" YAY

Fourth book in the Fallen Series by Lauren Kate.
Scheduled to be released in early 2012.

Lauren Kate also announced that her fourth book, Rapture, would be released in Spring 2012.

Everyone always imagines how their characters look like, sometimes I create their faces in my head but sometimes I visualize someone else, it could be someone I know personally and sometimes a movie star.
In Fallen, I imagined Krysten Ritter as Luce. I know everyone has their "Luce" but she is mine.

Luce is characterized as pale with clear skin, raven black hair, delicate features and beautiful eyes. We see that she is both good in short and long hair.
